Richard J. Zabbo is an experienced civil litigator with a strong focus on representing plaintiffs in professional liability suits across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. With a track record of success, Rich has been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers, earning the title of Rising Star from 2010 to 2018 and being selected as a Super Lawyer in Plaintiff’s Medical Malpractice in 2019.
Rich contributes to the academic community as a Special Lecturer in Healthcare Law at Providence College, his alma mater. His course, mandatory for all students majoring in Healthcare Policy & Management, delves into critical topics such as medical liability, informed consent, healthcare privacy, and fraud and abuse.
In 2011, Rich was appointed by Rhode Island Governor Lincoln D. Chafee as a member of the Rhode Island Health Care Reform Commission. The commission played a crucial role in advising on the implementation of federal healthcare reform, aiming to make healthcare accessible and affordable for all Rhode Islanders. Before his current role, Rich used his expertise at a regional litigation firm in Providence, focusing on medical malpractice and complex business litigation for over nine years.
Outside the courtroom, Rich enjoys cooking, fishing, and running. He cherishes time spent with his wife and two children and remains active in his community as a board member of the Providence College Greater Providence (Mal Brown) Alumni Club. Rich is also a proud former member of the Providence College Cross Country and Track Teams.
